From book to animated film: Architecture consulting for AI-assisted book adaptation with Unreal Engine
Consulting · France
A start-up from France wanted to build software that automatically turns an uploaded book or chapter into an animated film. For two months we advised on how best to set this up: from analysing the text and keeping characters consistent, through animation in Unreal Engine, to sound, costs and rights.
Key figures
- 2 months: consulting with regular calls
- End to end: from book text to finished film
- Roadmap: phase plan with cost estimate
The project
- Client
- Start-up from France
- Partner
- Bunmedia (consulting and concept)
- Format
- Regular consulting calls over two months plus a written overall concept
- Deliverables
- Blueprint of the software, phase plan, cost estimate, offer of a demo to try out.
- Technologies
- Unreal Engine, generative AI, speech synthesis
What we built
- From text to scene: First, the AI has to understand the chapter like a director: which characters appear, where the scene takes place, who says what, what happens? This produces a kind of screenplay from which the software builds the film.
- Characters that stay the same: The biggest challenge with AI films: a character looks different in every scene. We showed how characters are defined once and then reused throughout the film so that they always look the same.
- Unreal Engine or AI video: There are two routes: animating characters in a 3D engine, or having an AI generate videos directly. We compared both and showed where each route has its strengths and how to combine them.
Technical details
Architecture consulting for a text-to-animation pipeline: LLM-based scene analysis from book text, character consistency through fixed assets and references, automated scene generation in Unreal Engine, assessment of real-time rendering versus AI video generation, an audio pipeline with a voice per character and lip sync, GPU infrastructure and the legal framework. Result: architecture concept, phase-based roadmap and cost estimate.
- Text to speech with a dedicated voice per character, lip sync, music:
- GPU rendering, cloud versus own hardware, scaling with many parallel jobs:
- Copyright in source books and the legal status of AI-generated content:

Vom Buch zum Animationsfilm: Architekturberatung für KI-gestützte Buchverfilmung mit Unreal Engine
Beratung · Frankreich
Kennzahlen
- 2 Monate: Beratung mit regelmäßigen Calls
- End to End: vom Buchtext bis zum fertigen Film
- Roadmap: Phasenplan mit Kostenschätzung
Das Projekt
- Kunde
- Start-up aus Frankreich
- Partner
- Bunmedia (Beratung und Konzeption)
- Format
- Regelmäßige Beratungscalls über zwei Monate plus schriftliches Gesamtkonzept
- Lieferumfang
- Bauplan der Software, Phasenplan, Kostenschätzung, Angebot einer Demo zum Ausprobieren.
- Technologien
- Unreal Engine, generative KI, Sprachsynthese
- Text to Speech mit eigener Stimme pro Figur, Lippensynchronisation, Musik:
- GPU-Rendering, Cloud gegenüber eigener Hardware, Skalierung bei vielen parallelen Aufträgen:
- Urheberrecht an Buchvorlagen und Rechtslage KI-generierter Inhalte:
